Modern restorative dentistry utilizes CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology to provide efficient and aesthetic solutions for damaged teeth. At Bond St, we utilize the CEREC system to create custom-fitted porcelain restorations in a single appointment.
CEREC allows our dental team to design, fabricate, and fit a ceramic restoration—such as a filling, inlay, onlay, or crown—while you wait. This technology replaces the need for traditional impressions and temporary restorations.
The Benefits of Ceramic Restorations:
Aesthetic Integration: The ceramic material is available in numerous shades, allowing it to be matched to the natural colour of your surrounding teeth.
Metal-Free: CEREC restorations are made from biocompatible ceramic, which eliminates the dark margins sometimes associated with older metal-based crowns.
Conservation of Tooth Structure: The precision of the milling process allows for a conservative approach to tooth preparation.
The CEREC workflow is designed to be streamlined and convenient:
Preparation: The tooth is prepared by removing the compromised structure or older filling material.
Digital Impression: Instead of traditional putty, a high-resolution 3D camera captures a digital scan of the tooth.
Design and Milling: The restoration is designed on-screen and then milled from a solid block of high-quality ceramic in our on-site unit.
Bonding: Once the restoration is ready, it is bonded to the tooth and polished to match the surface of your natural enamel.
While single-visit dentistry is highly efficient, its suitability depends on the location and extent of the dental damage. During a clinical assessment, our dental team will determine if a CEREC restoration is the appropriate restorative path for your specific needs.
Important Information: All dental procedures carry risks. A clinical examination is required to determine suitability for any treatment. Individual results vary. The longevity of a ceramic restoration depends on individual factors, including oral hygiene and bite forces. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries additional risks; before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
